i started by making a line art of it for a frame then i built it up and got ridd of the line art
then i started to make the lights and darks
so far im starting to get how to use layers to make a nice weathered feeling and how to add the the light and shadows
ive started work on my first project which will be a mech robot thing like this ive done sketches and will scan them in and use that as a basic frame
well i still have alot to do if u have any comments or critques on what i have done so far it would be appritiated
Joe, good start.
ReplyDeleteAs with any painting, digital or not, you will want to figure out when to keep a hard crisp edge and when to blend. Photoshop does the hard edge really easily, getting the soft transitions is harder. I personally like to work on those value transitions in a single layer used just for black and white or grayscale. I think also helps to have a pen stylus to vary the opacity. This kind of illustration requires a pen stylus.
Looks good Joe, you did a real good job matching the neutral colors. You've done a real good job of laying real broad brush strokes too, If you want a good blending brush you can use the heal brush set to a blank background pattern, it works great.
ReplyDeleteJoe, I had Jeff show me what he meant and I recorded a demo. Find it in Blackboard Announcements for July 2nd Lectures.
